When Lukasz listened to how volunteers do plastic sorting, he was curious about the purpose of recycling. After the tour, he understood that all products have hidden love stories.
The Blanket
On October 21, a volunteer team from nine countries including Poland, Ukraine, Europe, and Australia who participated in Tzu Chi’s relief distribution in Poland for Ukrainian refugees visited the Tzu Chi Neihu Environmental Protection Education Station in Taipei.
The guide showing them round explained that the eco-friendly blankets were one of the products of Da Ai Technology made in Taiwan and were distributed in Poland. A total of 20,000 blankets have so far been sent to Poland. He also introduced the process of how a plastic bottle becomes a blanket.
Treasures of Neihu
In the recyclable sorting area, Gao A-yeh, an 88-year-old volunteer, happily presented the "Treasure of Neihu". She has many years of experience in environmental protection and has created her own record. She has specially organized these valuable experience talks into a book and turned them into handouts to teach visitors how to do plastic classification. She also introduced to the visitors the types of different plastic materials such as PP, PE, PET, and which can or cannot be recycled. She has already given out more than 40 such manuals.
Love Story behind Blanket
In the lecture hall of the Neihu Recycling Station, Li Ding-ming from Da Ai Technology shared the story of love. In addition to being practical and beautiful, every item of Da Ai Technology is not only a product, but also is full of love. It gives everyone the idea of loving the earth.
Hanna Mankus from Ukraine was deeply moved. She was originally a refugee who fled from her hometown to Poland. She was an English teacher and found hope in life after she met Tzu Chi. Now she is one of the staff of the Warsaw Tzu Chi Office.
After the guide explained the story of the eco-friendly blankets, Hanna took out her phone and showed a photo of her son sleeping peacefully under the blanket with the Tzu Chi logo on it. After the tour, she felt the great love of everyone and the need to teach everyone to love the earth.
Spread Eco-friendly Idea
Lukasz Baranowski, from Poznan, Poland, is the vice president of corporate development for a technology company; his wife Shu-erh Chang worked at Da Ai TV before. The couple have taken part in the distributions to Ukrainian refugees in Poland for half a year; this time the couple brought their children back to Taiwan.
When Lukasz listened to how volunteers do plastic sorting, he was curious about the purpose of recycling. After the tour, he understood that all products have hidden love stories. It reminded him that when he has the opportunity to send blankets to those who need them in the future, he must tell everyone the love story behind them, so as to pass on the love.
Tzu Chi recycling volunteers protect the Earth. When recycling is done well, pollution is reduced; in that way, they are protecting the Earth. This is practical work that reduces air pollution and protects the Earth. This is one of the ways to love the Earth and all beings.
To do recycling is easy and everyone can do it. Join Tzu Chi and let us love and protect the Earth together.
