Annual Buddha Day Ceremonies are taking place at Tzu Chi Global Headquarters in Taiwan and across the world. It’s a triple celebration of Buddha Day, Mother’s Day, and Tzu Chi Day!

The Buddha Day is a major event in the Buddhist world. Ceremonies around the world of Bathing Buddha are a way to appreciate the exceptional qualities of the Buddha's teachings and bathing the Buddha within all of us.

The Venerable Master Cheng Yen, founder of Tzu Chi, has taught us: “The Buddha Day is a significant event for us every year. Without the Buddha coming to the world, how could there be Buddhist teachings to share with everyone and purify the world? Therefore, we approach the Buddha Day Ceremony with respect and devotion. As long as we remain devoted to the Buddha's teachings, we must approach them with a sincere heart and we must seek to accept and learn from them. May we all bathe the Buddha within all of us every day and keep the Buddha within our hearts clear, pure, and shining.”

57th Anniversary

This year marks the 57th anniversary of the Tzu Chi Foundation. On May 14th (Sunday) from 06:00-08:00, at Hualien Jing Si Hall, Tzu Chi volunteers, students, staff, and members of the public in Hualien and different organizations will join to bathe the Buddha within everyone. May we all keep the Buddha within our hearts clear, pure, and shining.

In the evening of the same day, the Buddha Day ceremony that was suspended for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be held at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei, Taiwan.
